Does it hurt more to get your tongue pierced in the same spot twice?

I've had my tongue pierced once before, but let it grow up for some odd reason.It didnt hurt at all the first time, but I've heard it hurts worse to get it pierced a second time in the same spot, but I've also heard it doesnt hurt at all and that it doesnt swell as much. I know everyone is different, but I'd like to hear about other people's experiences with it, because I really want it redone, but scared the pain will be bad.Does it hurt more to get your tongue pierced in the same spot twice?
I haven't even gotten my tongue pierced, but I worked in a tattoo and piercing parlor for a semester this past fall.


The guys who worked there were always piercing and re-piercing things on themselves, and I saw my fair share of people come in to have things re-pierced.





Because the piercer has to go through scar tissue, I can imagine that there might be some funky things going on with nerve endings there.


IN MY EXPERIENCE, however, it didn't hurt as much for people the second time around (I suspect because scar tissue generally has fewer nerve endings).








The primary thing that I would want to stress, though, is that if you really do want it redone, then it is TOTALLY worth the pain.


My mantra for all of my piercings and tattoos has been ';Pain is only temporary, but body art is forever!';


Even if it hurts worse than last time, it's not something that you can't endure, and it'll prove to yourself that you can take a lot more than you thought!


And besides, then you'll have your tongue pierced again.





Regardless of it hurting more or less, this sounds like a decision that should be based not on the pain factor, but on how much you want the piercing.Does it hurt more to get your tongue pierced in the same spot twice?
Yes it will hurt when they go through the scar tissue but if the person that is doing it really knows what they are doing they will not go through the same hole twice. They will try doing it in front of behind the old one.


Wow you must have had yours out along time because I just put mine back in and I had mine out for over 3 years and didnt have a problem one putting it back in.

It will hurt more because of the scar tissue that has built up. It really depends on how much scar tissue there is though. If you feel a large lump where the piercing was, it will hurt more than if there is only a little. I got a piercing done in the same place 3 time and it hurts but I find it's worth it. Hell, I might even do it a 4th time.
If it is done right and redone back in the same place, it should not hurt at all. And it should not swell as much.
